Yup, we’re shooting Fireballs of gas cans at our enemies now The picture doesn’t look like much, but we’ve got our main character (the guy in a white hoody) animating and walking around our game environment, our zombie enemy over in the top left corner there (not animated yet, some sort of weird bug going on ), and our hero can shoot cans of gasoline at him! Don’t worry, that won’t be in the game. I didn’t feel like making an actual fireball so just used a substitute. Next step: Make it so the fireball actually does damage to the enemy after it hits!
I originally purchased Plygame when it was UniRPG, basically a package that would help you make a role playing game. It was a great asset back then, and when the developer announced the new changes I was pretty excited. I’m happy to say that I wasn’t dissapointed. Now know as Plygame, this asset has a ton of stuff packed into it. The focus has also been expanded to include a lot more than just RPG functionality. With it’s own visual script editor, Plybox, the developer has put a lot of effort into this asset to give game developers the tools they need to create a whole range of games. With the latest updates we now have character controllers that use Mecanim animation, which is a huge help for me because I love mecanim. After about 10 minutes of learning the new layout, I had a main character set up with correct animations, a 3rd person controller, and I had a friend set up that follows me around the map I created! I have yet to delve into the skills and factions, but I plan on it soon and hopefully I’ll have more to say about those topics.
